2. Great Barrier Reef – Belize

The Great Barrier Reef in Belize (nope, not the one in Australia) is the world’s second-largest barrier reef that is located on the palm-lined shore of Belize. Aside from being one of the world’s most scenic tourist destinations, the reef is also home to whale sharks that visitors can swim alongside from March to June. Regardless of whether you venture north or south on your sailboat, you are sure to be rewarded with delicious fresh food, sugarcane cocktails, and endless Caribbean sunshine. Bonus tip: don’t forget to stop by the seaside town of Palencia to tuck into some local fresh fish before you end your journey.

3. Lycian Coast – Turkey

If you’re in search of a sailing adventure that offers you both sea and land, the Lycian Coast in Turkey should definitely be one to tick off the bucket list. This gorgeous destination features a variety of small fishing towns, majestic secluded beaches, and kilometres of rocky cliffs for you to explore. Lycian Coast is also home to a host of archaeological sites, many of which are found not far from shore. For those who love paddling on a canoe, be sure to schedule a day for paddling downstream through the beautiful nature of the Xanthos Valley.

4. The Bay Of Islands – New Zealand

A three-hour drive or 35 minute flight north of Auckland, the Bay Of Islands is a destination that is rich in sailing culture thanks to its amazing coastlines that everyone should encounter at least once in their lives. The Bay is the ideal location for anyone who loves kayaking or fishing, and it is especially famous for its collection of diverse wildlife. Visitors can expect to spot whales, dolphins and penguins all in a relatively small area, followed by hikes at any one of the 144 islands from which the iconic and world-famous bay gets its name.

Galapagos Islands - Ecuador

5. Galapagos Islands – Ecuador

Last but not least, the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador have got to be some of nature’s finest creations. These volcanic islands are home to some of the rarest species of wildlife that you will find on earth, much of which inspired Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. Iguanas, Giant Tortoises, Sea Lions and Blue-Footed Boobies are just a few of the species you will find here, making it the ideal destination for animal lovers. Sail around the islands to experience some of the breathtaking scenery, or dive into the crystal clear waters and swim alongside some majestic marine life before retiring to a hearty dinner of seafood at a local cafe or restaurant.
